This study is a review of how AI has been used in psychiatry. It looks at how AI is being integrated into psychiatry to improve diagnostic accuracy, predict patient outcomes, and tailor treatments. It also looks at potential challenges of using AI to advance mental healthcare. The results from the study show that AI is improving at diagnostic accuracy and predicting treatment outcomes. AI has also shown promise in refining disease taxonomy and supporting physicians in decision-making tools and digital monitoring. However, the authors also brought up some of the concerns of using AI in psychiatry which included overfitting, limited generalizability, and the need to develop more interpretable models. In the discussion, the authors highlighted the great potential AI has to expand healthcare, but it must be done so with clinical expertise.
